Medicine Centers

This program began in May 2003 and identifies potential First Aid Officers living in remote villages removed from a local hospital. These people are then provided with basic training in health care and counseling. After the training, the First Aid Officers are equipped with a first aid kit for their village and return to put into practice what they have learned. The program also provides follow-up training and ongoing professional development, support and encouragement.

Goal: Assist remote villages in administering first level health care

Partners:

  • McCormick Hospital
  • Van Sant Voord Hospital
  • Payap Faculty of Nursing

Participants are trained in the basics of:

  • Health Care
  • Disease & Treatment
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Leadership Training and Counseling

As of March 2010, 106 people from 60 villages have been trained. Seventy-four first aid boxes have been distributed to the villages.
