Bonna Village in northern Thailand was facing a water shortage crisis. The Karen mountain community was expanding and their small spring fed water tank was insufficient to meet their growing demands. Water pressure was also weak and would not reach outlying houses.
To solve this problem, Operation Blessing Thailand, with support from the German Embassy in Bangkok, provided a large concrete water tank and water filter at a total cost of about $3,700.
An opening ceremony took place at the site, with the villagers turning out to celebrate and express their gratitude.
The 215 people in Bonna Village now have ample water with enough pressure to reach every home. The Karen village is also able to drink safe filtered water from their tank for the first time.
Mr. Jinda, an elderly man from Bonna Village said, “Our church is a long way from the old tank so on Sundays we often had no water to use in the bathroom. Since we have had this new tank, we have more than enough water everyday. We are so grateful.”
