Supit Receives a New Business after Tsunami

Supit with one of her newly created items for sale

Supit is a 40 year old woman who ran a family business on Phi Phi Island off the coast of Thailand. When a tsunami struck the island late in 2004, their store which sold clothing, hammocks and compact discs was badly damaged and one employee died. Supit, her husband and their two children lost everything.

The family spent almost a year asking various organizations for assistance to rebuild their lives and business but no one could help. One day Supit happened to meet Karen Thomson, Director of CBN Thailand, who referred her on to Pastor Arom of Operation Blessing. In June 2006, OB provided more than $1200 and purchased fabric, dye and other materials so that Supit and her family could begin to rebuild their business.

In just one month the new business had already covered the establishment costs and Supit and her family are now looking forward to making a handsome profit on remaining sales.
