Sanguen is a 53 year old Christian lady who has three sons. She farms rice and sews to make a living. On May 22nd 2006, Sanguen’s home was completely destroyed by a flash flood in Uttaradit Province.
Sanguen was alone that night when the floodwaters laid siege to her home. Nobody heard her first cries for help. Eventually her niece came to help her but the floodwaters rose so quickly that within one hour her home was washed away and her sewing machine was completely destroyed.
Operation Blessing distributed aid to the people in Sanguen’s village and assisted with setting up a temporary relief center.
In partnership with the local church, OB built two houses in the village. 100,000 baht or about $2,500USD, was given to help construct Sanguen’s house. A further 100,000 baht was provided to build a new house for Mr. Veerayut, who also lost his home in the flood. Construction began in late August and on the 16th of November 2006, both houses were officially opened.
Operation Blessing also provided Sanguen and Veerayut with surprise “house warming” presents. Sanguen received a new sewing machine to replace the one that was destroyed in the flood, and Mr. Veerayut received a new bicycle which brought a huge smile to his face.

Sanguen is so happy that Operation Blessing helped build her a new house and provide her with a place to once again call home. She said, “I am so grateful to God that he led people I didn’t even know, to help me and love me.”
