Family Receives a Loan to Breed Chickens & Support for their Son

Songkran and her family are part of the Bless a Child program in Chumporn, southern Thailand, which assists children from families affected by HIV. Operation Blessing provides her 12 year old son, Grysit, with school uniforms, tuition fees, daily lunches and medical check-ups.

He also takes part in a Kid’s Fun Day each month with the rest of his friends from the Bless a Child Program.

Operation Blessing also assisted Songkran and her husband Leekit, by providing a loan to help establish a mini-livelihood project. 3353 baht (about $88 US) was given to build a chicken coop and purchase chickens for breeding.

The couple have been very good stewards and have already been able to repay the loan.

When Operation Blessing staff visited Songkran’s family on September 8th 2006, she reported that because of OB’s assistance, her families’ burden is lighter.

She said, “Before attending this program, our family really suffered because we didn’t know how to make ends meet. Now we feel much happier and less worried.”
